The brief

  • Create a bespoke Royal Wedding activity to take over the CPW Acton terrace area and engage CPW staff in a fun way.
  • Use this as an opportunity to do some teaser activity for Galaxy S II which is launching 1st May
  • Work to a very tight budget!

Our response

The Galaxy S II is one of the worlds most advanced smartphones with a wealth of features to be shouted about when the phone is officially launched, but for the purposes of a teaser afternoon we chose to focus on the phones extraordinary screen quality and the resolution and capability of its camera - features which tie in brilliantly with a Royal Wedding street party extravaganza.

We turned the CPW terrace into a bright, vibrant, red white and blue Royal Wedding street party, and played with one of the key campaign strap lines for the phones launch, 'Experience a world more colourful,' by inviting CPW employees to:

"Experience a wedding more colourful at the Samsung Royal Wedding Street Party."

We created a traditional street party with long tables, cucumber sandwiches, music and dancing, as well as details and touches (such as branded cupcakes, floor vinyls, plant pot branding) which added theatre, branding, excitement, and further opportunities to tie in the Galaxy S II and tease it's official launch.

Outcome

Over 500 members of CPW staff came out onto the terrace and fully entered into the spirit of the event.

The union jack hats were all used, the flags were waved, and the Galaxy S II brand was fully engaged with.

We managed to fit loads of branding into the event, and with a 'wedding photographer' taking pictures with the Galaxy S II itself there was plenty of time for staff to interact with the product itself.
